after 20 years spent in the restaurant industry, some things just stick with you and begin to mesh with how you work and express things creatively... as a painter, i face the canvas with little expectations, as my process is very stream of conscious, much like when throwing together a meal wtihout a recipe... i paint... sometimes, i repaint... sometimes i completely paint over... it's whatever feels right at that moment and the painting is never "done", it simply stops at interesting places... there is always more that could be added or changed but im not looking for finality, im catching things that feel right in the moment, completely on the fly...

I once wrote a poem that spoke of the scattered thoughts of my snow globe mind.  I truly feel that this metaphor fits what goes on in my head sometimes.  Visions, thoughts, feelings are all settled until something comes along to shake them up and send them into an erratic frenzy.  In time, they settle once again but, as life has it, there is always an uncertainty as to when they will be sent flying around again.  I can only embrace the randomness and unpredictable nature of life and my experiences by painting how i react, interpret, and perceive them visually.
